Imperial Beach traffic pursuit leads to arrests of motorists, bystanders

San Diego Sheriff cruiser downtown Photo by Chris Stone Times of San Diego Deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff s Substation were led on a slow-speed pursuit that ended with multiple arrests They attempted to stop a wagon suspected of having several code violations at around p m Tuesday according to bureaucrats at the station but the motorist initially failed to stop The patrol car pursued the truck until it stopped in the block of Seacoast Drive Seacoast Drive The driver later identified as Aaron Meza and his adult male visitor exited but refused to follow instructions according to the sheriff s station Administrators noted that Meza displayed what they described as pre-assaultive indicators and took a fighting stance so the deputies employed force to detain him During the arrest two residents came out of their homes and despite being instructed to stay away attempted to interfere The sheriff s station mentioned that the duo Abigail Persson and Jonathan Diaz were detained after a minor use of force While Diaz was issued a citation for obstructing an officer and published at the scene Persson was arrested and booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on charges of resisting arrest by force Meza was booked into San Diego Central Jail on charges of felony evading and resisting an officer
